Bill Watterson has long expressed an interest in an animated version of Calvin and Hobbes and an admiration of animation as an art form. Whilst he never created an animated version, the cult TV show Robot Chicken recently did a parody of Calvin and Hobbes. Robot Chicken is a variety show that parodies a number of pop culture conventions using stop motion animation of toys, action figures, dolls, and claymation and various other objects. In the parody shown below, it takes a somewhat dark view of what Calvin would be like in 'real-life' and how adults would really view his hyperactive imagination. The clip below is rated MA.

In addition to something professionally created such as the clip above, there have been numerous fan-created animated clips. Some are original animations using modelling software, others are the 'flip-book' style animation. Some examples of the more popular ones are below:

[ HOME ]	Cool Calvin & Hobbes Collection Cool Calvin & Hobbes Collection, a fan site about the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip, was created in 1995 and was my first website. It received a lot of updates until 1999 when I 'retired' so that I could focus on other things. In 2006, I couldn't stand some of the tacky design choices I had originally made in 1995 and so re-designed the site and updated some of the content.
